This volume, published in association with the University of Warsaw, which draws on more than 50 years of research experience in Nubia is the result of four years of collaboration between chemists, restorers and archaeologists from Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, France, Sudan who conducted an extensive programme of research based on investigations of samples of Nubian wall paintings from the Middle Nile Valley dating from the 6th to the 14th century AD which are now to be found in various places including the National Museum, Warsaw and the Sudan National Museum, Khartoum.
